This Week: Revelations by Former Varoufakis Press Adviser Dimitris Yannopoulos

yannopoulosThis week on Dialogos Radio, the Dialogos Interview Series will feature part one of a two-part interview with Dimitris Yannopoulos, who previously served as the press adviser for the former finance minister of Greece, Yanis Varoufakis, during Varoufakis’ tenure as finance minister. In the first part of our interview with Yannopoulos, we will discuss his time working as the press adviser to the then finance minister Yanis Varoufakis, and will share with us some rather revealing details about the true agreements which Varoufakis made with Greece’s lenders in early 2015, during the first months of the then-newly elected SYRIZA-led government, agreements which contrary to the public image of Varoufakis as an anti-austerity renegade, actually tied Greece into further austerity.

Our Latest for MPN: How To Become A Greek Oligarch In Seven Easy Steps

mintpressnewsIn our latest piece for Mint Press News, titled “How To Become A Greek Oligarch In Seven Easy Steps,” we take a factual yet satirical look at the intertwined relationship between the current government of Greece and a new breed of oligarchs, exemplified by the cases of Ivan Savvidis and Dimitris Maris. Far from fulfilling its pre-election pledge to “crush” the oligarchs, the current SYRIZA-led government has demonstrated its willingness to “play ball” with the oligarchy, and particularly those oligarchs who are politically favorable to the supposedly “radical leftist” SYRIZA.
