Interview on New Migration Crisis in Greece, Greek-Turkish Relations, and Turkey’s Possible Objectives

migrants1Dr. Michael Nevradakis, producer and host of Dialogos Radio, was interviewed on the “Fault Lines” radio program, hosted by Garland Nixon and Lee Stranahan, which was broadcast on Radio Sputnik US on Tuesday, March 3, 2020.

During this interview, Dr. Nevradakis discussed the new massive inflow of migrants into Greece from Turkey, following the Turkish government’s decision to “open the floodgates” towards Europe and Greece in particular, in the aftermath of heavy military defeats sustained by Turkey in northern Syria and in Libya.

In addition, Dr. Nevradakis discussed sentiment in Greece towards the renewed migration crisis, the current state of Greek-Turkish relations, the situation along Greece’s mainland border with Turkey, and the large-scale and unprecedented protests which have taken place in numerous Aegean islands against the continued inflow of migrants and against the construction of “closed” migrant camps. Furthermore, Dr. Nevradakis speculated as to the possible objectives and endgame that the Turkish government and its leader, Tayip Erdogan, may have in mind which prompted the decision to instigate this new crisis.

Unfortunately, Dr. Nevradakis was unable to complete his final response, regarding the Greek government’s proposal to take up Greek-Turkish differences at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, as time ran out on the broadcast.
